Huskers One Man Down For Top 25 Matchup Against Illinois

Breaking News: Huskers Down One Man for Top-25 Matchup Against Illinois

Huskers Face Off Against Ranked Illinois This Weekend

Missing Defensive Back Marquel Dismuke Leaves Gap in Lineup

The Nebraska Cornhuskers will be without starting defensive back Marquel Dismuke when they take on the No. 25 Illinois Fighting Illini this Saturday. Dismuke suffered a season-ending knee injury in practice this week, dealing a blow to the Huskers' secondary.

Dismuke has been a key contributor for Nebraska this season, starting all eight games and recording 26 tackles, three pass breakups, and an interception. His absence will leave a significant void in the Huskers' defense, which has struggled at times this season.

The Huskers will likely turn to sophomore Deontai Williams to replace Dismuke in the starting lineup. Williams has played in all eight games this season, primarily on special teams, and has recorded five tackles.

Nebraska will need to find a way to fill the void left by Dismuke if it wants to pull off an upset against Illinois. The Fighting Illini are averaging 33.5 points per game this season and have one of the most explosive offenses in the Big Ten Conference.

The Huskers and Fighting Illini will kick off at 2:30 p.m. CT on Saturday at Memorial Stadium in Champaign, Illinois. The game will be televised on ESPN2.
