Robert Menendez, a Democratic senator from New Jersey, and his wife, Nadine Arslanian Menendez, have been indicted on charges of accepting bribes totaling cash, gold bars, and a luxury car. The indictment alleges that Nadine Arslanian Menendez played a central role in orchestrating the bribes.
The couple pleaded not guilty to the charges at their arraignment in a federal court in New York on Sept. 27, 2023. If convicted, they each face up to 45 years in prison.
